She\u2019s gone? Good, because we are totally plotting something. Mother\u2019s Day is fast approaching, and it falls to us, the spouses and kids of these wonderful women, to make their day as special as possible. That means breakfast in bed. It means relaxing shoulder and foot rubs and protestations of love and appreciation. And it means Mother\u2019s Day crafts. We\u2019ve assembled a few Mother\u2019s Day crafts for kids to get you started.<\/p>\n

Picture Flower Kids<\/strong><\/p>\n This is one of those Mother\u2019s Day crafts that looks like it took more work than it actually did. You\u2019ll need:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Most of these items can be found at your local craft or dollar store. You can use seed starter pots for the pots, or hunt thrift stores for a small ceramic pot.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n If you\u2019re using seed starter pots, let the kids paint them first. Now cut a piece of floral foam so it fits firmly into the bottom of the pot.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Cut a large flower out of the craft paper, making it big enough you\u2019ll be able to glue the muffin wrappers to the center. You can find templates for flower shapes online if you don\u2019t trust your drawing skills. At the same time, cut a circle the size of the base of one of the muffin wrappers.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Print out a photo of your happy child on wallet-sized photo stock. Draw a circle around that smiling face the same size as your craft paper circle and glue the two pieces together.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Almost done! Using the stapler, secure the top of the green straw to the back of the flower. On the other side, staple one of the muffin wrappers in the flower\u2019s center. Glue the photo onto the bottom of the muffin wrapper.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Cover the foam in the plant pot with the second muffin wrapper. Cut a small hole in the middle of the wrapper and insert the bottom of the straw stalk. If you used starter pots, you may have to add some wrapped candy or gumballs to weigh the pot down. Terracotta and ceramic pots will be heavy enough to stand on their own.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Tada! Cutest. Flower. Ever.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Lavender Milk Bath<\/strong><\/p>\n Give Mom an at-home spa day with this luxurious milk baths. All you\u2019ll need is:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Have the kids decorate the jar any way they want, taking care to make sure their creation doesn\u2019t fall off the craft table and break (use a plastic bottle for very young children). After the sparkles and glitter glue have dried, mix together all the other ingredients and add them to the glass jar. If you have any left over after filling the jar, you can store it in a Ziploc. If Mom doesn\u2019t like lavender, choose an essential oil with a scent she likes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Floral Tea<\/strong><\/p>\n Start Mom\u2019s day off right with a lovely cup of floral herbal tea. This project kicks Mother\u2019s Day crafts for kids up a notch, proving your devotion to moms everywhere. You can find ingredients at specialty spice stores online.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Have the kids wash their hands and mix together all the tea ingredients in a small bowl. Place a tablespoon of the mix on each piece of cheesecloth, and tie it shut with the food-grade twine. Let the kids decorate the canister, and when it\u2019s dry, add the homemade teabags.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n To make the tea, steep a teabag in one cup of hot to boiling water for about five minutes.
